Making Online Testing More Secure

Take Me To Post Comment Form

A lot of controversies have been going on regarding the authenticity of the degrees earned through online courses. However, many organizations have begun to value online degrees.

The only issue with pursuing an online course is that people tend to doubt your skills as it is extremely easy to take help from outside while taking an online exam. And to avoid all of this, institutes in increasing numbers are taking assistance from online exam proctoring services.

This is the best way to change the mindset of people towards online testing. This move has made online examination seem much more genuine than before.

It is high time that this trend of making students take proctored exams starts to catch on as test takers have various ways (such as using electronic devices or taking help from a friend) in which they can cheat.

What do you understand by online proctoring?

In case of an online proctored exam, the candidate is observed by a proctor while they are taking the online exam.

The candidate is mostly monitored through a mic, webcam and sometimes by taking access to the candidate’s screen.

If you are at a remote location and are required to take a proctored online examination, all you need is:

• An acceptable device such as a laptop, personal computer, tablet or mobile.

• A strong internet connection with at least a speed of 256kbps.

• An effective webcam along with a mic.

• One of the modern browsers on your laptop/PC.

There is not just one type of proctoring but there are three methods of doing so.

1. Live online proctoring:

In live online proctoring, a proctor keeps an eye on the candidate with the help of screen-share and audio-video feeds that they receive in real time.

In this case, candidates are proctored by trained people located in remote locations. These people possess the skills of examining the candidates and prevent them from cheating during the exam. A proctored is allowed to keep a watch on sixteen to thirty-two students at a time. It mainly depends on what the service provider has to offer.

2. Recorded Proctoring:

In this method, the proctor is not guided by real-time feeds. So basically, the candidates our proctored through screen share and audio-video feeds that are recorded when the candidates are taking the exam. The recordings are watched by a representative who has the responsibility to point out any suspicious activity carried out by a student during the exam.

3. Advanced Automated Proctoring:

This is the most forward type proctoring service. When it comes to this particular kind of proctoring, the screen-share and audio-video feeds of the students are not only recorded but those recordings are also mechanically monitored to look for suspicious activities. This is done with the help of modern video as well as audio analytics.

The potent exam proctoring services has authenticated the whole system of online testing as a result of which professionals pursuing online certification course are being offered really good jobs by employers all around the world.
