Multiple Vehicular Homicides Reported in February

Take Me To Post Comment Form

This February turned out to be a deadly month on the road, and that's not even including weather-related or single-vehicle accidents.

WLTZ reported on Feb. 26 that a 19 year old man was wanted for crashing into a Hyundai carrying Claudia Johnson. Johnson was killed; Raheem McClam, the man operating the vehicle, was driving 50 mph over the speed limit.

The second incident involves Wendy Millican being indicted on Feb. 22 for causing a four-car crash that killed a 21 year old man. She is liable for the accident and will face charges.

Both criminals in this case are at fault and could be held liable in a court of law. "When a driver causes injury as a result of demonstrably negligent driving, he or she could be required to pay a settlement," shared a car accident attorney partner at SKR law.

The issues in this case are two fold: the drivers were carrying the bare minimum insurance or none at all.

Georgia drivers need to think twice before carrying the bare minimum of insurance coverage.

Firstly, take the time to review your insurance coverage each time you renew; it's important to see if you have enough coverage to take care of yourself and your passengers in case of a medical emergency incurred through an accident.

Secondly, check the status of your insurance regarding other underinsured drivers. For instance, if an underinsured driver causes a crash with your vehicle, your insurance will have to cover the difference.

Most importantly, if you are the victim of an accident, make sure you document everything from start to finish. If you experience injuries or pain, take notes and see a doctor right away. If your property is destroyed, take inventory; and if you have been psychologically impaired (with demonstrable side effects), get an expert opinion on that as well.
