Being one of the most popular places in the United States, Washington D.C. has many things and places to keep everyone interested and excited. However, if you’re bored of your routine in the city, and you need to do something exciting this weekend, we have some free and almost free ideas you can enjoy without getting bored.

1. Explore the National Zoo

The National Zoo's conservation efforts will ensure that you and your family members will enjoy your time in here looking at the offerings available. This place is a must visit for you, if you have a happy family with at least one kid as a part of the family.

2. Enjoy a bottomless brunch

Although this will not be free, it can make your weekend awesome for a considerably low price. It is one of the ways in which you can not only keep yourself in the mood of consuming alcohol while enjoying your brunch and finding a good company around. If you’re planning to spend the weekend alone or with a couple of your friends, a bottomless brunch in D.C. should be on your mind.

3. Foot walking tour

DC By Foot is a walking tour company which gives free, kid-friendly tools that are infused with games, fun activities and a lot of trivia. It is one of the most exciting sections in D.C. that are enjoyed by kids over the weekend, and you should even consider it to be an important aspect for your kids. Make sure that you learn about the company and the activities involved so that you can keep your kids interested even before you have opted for it over the weekend.

4. Visiting the Gardens at Tudor Place

If you wish to spend $3 per person and you wish to spend quality time with your family, here is an amazing option for you that will allow you to spend peaceful hours roaming around the historic space, watching fountains and picturesque landscapes. 5. Enjoy your time at the National Museum of Natural History

If you want your kids to learn something special over the weekend, you can step in the National Museum of Natural History and look at various sections at will guide your children with something that is unique and special. Butterfly Pavilion is one of the most beautiful sections here, and you get an opportunity to walk among living butterflies that will keep your children excited. Another way in which you can take pride in being an American and admiring America's Independence is by stopping at the National Archives with your kids.

This place should have enough knowledge for you and your kids to learn about the Independence struggle and what were the strategies adopted in order to help you live the life of a free American today.

8. Enjoy a night time stroll around the National Mall

Moving around the National Mall will be a delightful experience for you during the day. However, if you want a truly magical experience, make sure that you visit this place at dusk. The monuments look like and otherworldly glow at dusk and will make you feel like you’re experiencing something that is completely unknown to you. It is one lifetime of an experience that can be enjoyed by you on a daily basis, at dusk.

We know that you live in the city of Washington D.C., but there is no harm in looking for a guided tour. This step will not only help you live the hidden gems that were unknown to you till now but also give you an idea of what tourist feel like when they visit Washington D.C. 12. Old Stone House

Built in 1765, Old Stone House never fails to impress, since it is the oldest home in Washington D.C. Located in Georgetown, this structure still stands on its original Foundation. There has been no alteration, and the beauty of this building is as good as it was years ago. A lot of work has gone into the maintenance of the same because it is carried by the National Park Service. If you wish to visit this please, you can go there anytime from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Being the oldest structure in Washington D.C., you can expect a lot to learn and shares, if you’re doing research on this city.
