Married couples are financially dependent on each other and this makes them responsible to take care of each other's issue. This has been stated in law that one spouse has to support other financially and this obligation exists even if the couple separates. Alimony amount will only discharge after the final divorce order.
There are two types of alimony specified in law, rehabilitative and indefinite.

Rehabilitative Alimony

Rehabilitative alimony is exactly the same as it sounds. The main purpose of this alimony is to make a spouse financially stable after divorce and it is a short-term measure. Usually in a marriage, one partner decides to be a home maker and stays at home to look after their kids, when they born. This person may have been out of the workforce to do so, in order to get his old life back or be able to return to school, alimony required for a new career in order to support herself.

Indefinite Alimony

It is a long-term measure where alimony paid for longer periods, even until the death of the spouse who is getting it. This has given, when spouse declared to be unable to generate his/ her livelihood due to age, a physical illness, or their mental state. The other scenario for granting this less common form of alimony is when one is able to work and earn a living; the ex-spouse’s standard of living far exceeds yours.

Now the question is how to decide the amount and partner who will be getting Alimony?

Before the final decision has to be made by a court, a knowing and voluntary agreement has to make between two parties and the same will be followed by the court. In other terms, the court will not change the agreement that has already been made between the parties as per their mutual understanding. But if there is no agreement exists between the two then the judge will decide alimony by considering these wide ranges of factors including, but not limited to:

1. The length of the marriage

2. The reasons for the divorce

3. The standard of living during the marriage

4. The financial condition during the marriage, as well as now and in the future

5. Physical and mental health of the parties

6. The age of the parties

Alimony is a complex issue and not necessarily awarded in every cases. An experienced fort Lauderdale alimony lawyer who knows the ins and out of the law could make the difference in your case.

Informative article. Alimony is payments that one spouse may be ordered to pay another spouse for support as a result of a divorce. There are many cases in which a spouse is in desperate need of alimony but the other spouse does not have the ability to pay sufficient alimony. Consulting a lawyer like http://36avocats.com/annuaire/bechara... over this matter is always the best decision.
